ECCA Meets Shadow Minister for Care Homes Press Release
On 21 March members of the English Community Care Association (ECCA) met Stephen O’Brien MP, Shadow Minister for Long-term Care. Within hours of sending out the invitation, the event was fully subscribed, illustrating the engagement that members of ECCA want to have with politicians.
Held at the offices of specialist healthcare lawyers, RadcliffesLeBrasseur in Westminster, the lunch with Stephen O’Brien MP, held under Chatham House rules, was an excellent opportunity for ECCA members to gain an insight into the Conservative Party’s future plans for the care sector under its new leader, Rt Hon David Cameron MP. It also enabled members to illustrate their ability to innovate and deliver high quality care in a flexible way.
Stephen O’Brien was elected to Parliament as MP for Eddisbury in a by-election in 1999. He is currently Shadow Minister for Health and his remit includes care homes.
This meeting was part of a series of ECCA Parliamentary lunches in association with RadcliffesLeBrasseur. In the coming months members of ECCA will have the opportunity to meet Rt Hon Kevin Barron MP, Baroness Pitkeathley OBE, Sir Derek Wanless, and Lord Sutherland of Houndwood.
